Well folks its planning time again!
Not long now until the next PARC launch....questions is "Who's doing what"?

There are rumours about a Magg Race!.....perhaps

I am planning a launch of the Aerobee Hi 2 stage if the weather is kind.
Maybe the Talon 2 on a G75J, Initiator on G64W....hmmmmmm

The Magg race could be interesting! Whose Maggs, yours and Kevins? His would be a lot lighter than yours! You should launch with different motors to compensate for the difference.

The Aerobee Hi 2 stager would be very nice to see. What motor configuration are you thinking of using?

If I pull my finger out I might get the altimiter sorted out for the Matrix, but my enthusiasm needs a kick up the a..., plus this break in the weather means I really must get out and do some devastation on the block.

The rain has been great though!

Yes....there has been some discussion on Kev Vs Scoop Magg race...all top secret with the motor choices....but I wouldn't be surprised if they were somewhere in the range of I211 or I218 ish. :o

Planning on the Aerobee Hi on a G80T in the booster, and an F52T in the sustainer :D

A magg drag would be cool to see. The aerobee should be interesting never seen a composite 2 stage.

Nothing new for me this month, I am just hoping to have successful launches and come home with everything I take out with me.

I still got the warthog, strongarm and the hawk for AP flights. They have all flown well so far.

Well....."Ya gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette I always say"

And thats just what I did today!

Fairly reasonable day out at Toodyay, sun was shining after a week of rain, looked pretty nice. The wind was a little breezy, but not so bad that launches would be a hassle.

I think most of the people there would attest it was a pretty trying affair with copperhead failures at an all time high!

I personally had about 4 or 5 failures with the attempts to launch my TLP SAAB and my TLP Gecko on F24W-7's and I eventually got the SAAB away only to fly extremely erratically into the ground breaking off fins in the process.

The flight of the day (at least for my money) was the Minie Magg drag race between Kev and myself on an I211W and an I218R respectively...I'm sure either MarkH or tantaris will post pictures and or video when they get the chance.

On to my disaster.....the Aerobee Hi 2 stage.....I had decided on a G80T-4 in the booster to an F52T-8 in the sustainer.
All the motors were set up and the minitimer was set for an ignition at 2 seconds after the G switch detected launch condition.
All was looking sweet on the pad, conditions favorable.

The booster lit and the bird got away and was flying very straight in the initial boost stage....but thats where it started to go wrong...failure to light the all important second stage after the alloted time frame.

The sustainer arched over into the death dive and plummeted to terra firma.

Diagnosis of failure is unknown at this time.
Future......build a new one ....faster...higher ...better!

Off the pad boosting nicely.

Still going strong

Bad dobbie!

As for my day...
Flew the AMRAAM2 on a G77-R and a G64-W
Flew the Matrix on a H165-R and H268-R.
Canadian Arrow E9-6
Blue Ninja D12-5

Due to the breeze I decided to to fly the Matrix with the PML recommended 36" parachute, rather than the 48" I've used since the maiden flight. The reviews I read when I was purchasing the Matrix recommended a larger chute - and they were right. One of the fins got slightly bent on landing. Gave the Matrix a corkscrew launch with the H268!

Oh no! :?
So the booster ok? just need to re-build the sustainer? It looks a complete right-off in that photo? Do you know why the second stage didn't fire yet?
